Kanshiwa Kata

Kanshiwa Kata - Yellow Belt Requirement

The first formal basic fighting kata should be performed relaxed, quickly and strong

Bow, set up neutral, (step out to side) left foot first, hands up in posting position. (neutral stance)Look left, step right foot forward, pivot on the balls of both feet to the left, circle block left, punch right

STEP PIVOT BLOCK PUNCH RIGHT

Look over right shoulder, turn 180 degrees into a right stance, circle block right, punch left.

TURN BLOCK PUNCH LEFT

Look to the left, pivot both feet to the front into a left stance, circle block left, punch right.

PIVOT BLOCK PUNCH RIGHT

Step into a right stance Block right, keep hands up, perform a right side kick. (Elbows in, hands positioned to side 45 degrees)

STEP BLOCK SIDE KICK, RIGHT

Step into a left stance Block left, keep hands up, perform a left side kick. (Elbows in, hands positioned to side 45 degrees)

STEP BLOCK SIDE KICK, LEFT

Position hands and body to the front. Take a long step forward into a deep right stance; full circle block left, do a right elbow strike and a right back fist strike.

STEP LONG STANCE BLOCK LEFT ELBOW, BACKFIST

(Mawate), turn into a left stance, (look first) Slide forward, (left foot forward), perform a mawashi uke and strike,

TURN POST, SLIDE BLOCK STRIKE

Step, Right foot forward, perform a right mawashi uke and strike.

STEP BLOCK STRIKE

 Step, Left foot forward perform a left mawashi uke block and strike.

STEP BLOCK STRIKE

Step, Right foot forward, perform a left wauke block and a right shuto strike and right back fist.

STEP, BLOCK LEFT, SHUTO, BACK FIST

(Mawate ), turn into a left stance, Block left, perform a left front kick, and return to a left sanchin stance

TURN, POST BLOCK / KICK LEFT

Slide forward, Block left and perform a right one knuckle strike (choken), and kiai. Slide back into a closed gate position, right inverted hand over left with single knuckles (choken) showing.

SLIDE, BLOCK LEFT CHOKEN RIGHT....KIAI

Step back into neutral stance,

Feet together, (left foot returns), position hands by your side and bow.Back to the top
