Ryuko Kata, the newest kata

  1. Open into a right sanchin stance, left sanchin strike.
  2. Step back into a deep left stance while circle blocking with the left hand. Right hand chambers a bushkin
  3. Drive forward into a deep right stance, with a right bushkin. (stay low)
  4. Drive forward into a deep left stance, with a left bushkin. (stay low)
  5. Step back into a deep right stance, right hand in sanchin in a fist position, the left hand pushing the right hand at the fist. (from left to right) block.
  6. Step forward into a deep left stance, with a left horizontal elbow strike and left reiken. (stay low)
  7. Turn (180 deg.) into a right sanchin. Left reverse kick, place left foot forward, then do a right reverse kick (right foot in front), with a right immediate low block (gedan barri), and immediate left reverse punch. Slide forward, high right punch.
  8. Turn (180 deg.) into a left stance left with an inside middle kake block (with a shoken fist), the right hand to the ready, for right shoken strike.
  9. Pivot on left (front) foot, 90 degrees to the left into a left stance, wauke block with slide forward with double shokens.
  10. Step back into a right stance with a low x block to the center, slide forward with left hooking hand and right back fist.
  11. Turn (180 deg) into left stance, left circle block with a left front kick.
  12. Step back into a right stance and do the Seiryu leg block, into a cat stance.
  13. Step back into a left stance and do the Seiryu leg block into a cat stance.
  14. Slide, forward wauke double strike, no block.
  15. Pivot (front foot) 45 degrees to the left do a double high rise hiraken strike.
  16. Step forward with left leg, step through into a deep right stance and do a double hiraken strike to the middle area of a leg (this may be the same hand position as in Kanchin?)
  17. Turn 90 degrees to the left into a left stance, drive through into right stance with a right elbow strike, reiken and shoken.
  18. Pivot 180 degrees to the left into a left sanchin stance and a right sanchin strike.
  19. Left wauke block, slide forward with double nukite one high (throat or neck area) and one low (rib area).
  20. Step back into right sanchin, double high rise blocks. (Hiraken hands, as in kanchin but move back)
  21. Step forward into a deep right stance with a double shuto strike to the lower rib area.
  22. Turn 135 degrees to the left into a left stance, left hand does high wrist block, with the right hand to the ready. Right hand strikes with a nukite to the sternum area, which is in the vertical position and kiai
  23. Step back into a right stance left hand to the ready as the right hand crosses under with an open hand wrist (shukoken) block then turns over to crane position.
  24. Step back to a left stance right hand to the ready as the left hand crosses under with an open hand wrist (shukoken) block then turns over to crane position.
  25. Step forward into a deep right stance with a right horizontal elbow strike.
  26. Step into a deep left stance with a left horizontal elbow strike.
  27. Pivot on front foot, 135 degrees to the left (left foot stays planted right foot moves) Right reverse kick, place right foot forward; left reverse kick, place left foot forward.
  28. Pivot on front foot, 135 degrees to the left into a left stance, left low block followed by a right reverse punch to the middle and a left punch to the middle.
  29. Pivot on the rear foot, to the right 90 degrees into a right stance , (QUICKLEY for the next three movements…no pause) migi chodan uke, followed by a hidari chodan uke, followed by a right bushkin with a grab to the throat area
  30. Turn 180 degrees to the left stance, post hands, wauke block left then kick left.
  31. Sansei ryu block (watarei uke) followed with a right shoken strike.
  32. Step forward with the left foot, drive through into a right deep stance (Sansei Ryu), right shomen hajiki strike, followed with a right down block over forward foot. Circle scoop block over forward foot right hand and left hand in the palm position. Move weight to rear foot in a “load position” with front foot in a cat stance and hands in wauki position with shokens (left shoken high, right shoken low). Slide and strike forward with kiai and return immediately to the original right deep stance (Sansei Ryu) with arms in wauki return position, hands still in shokens
  33. (Staying low) Step back into a left cat stance, left open hand block in a vertical shuto position in front of face and right hand finishes with vertical shuto position behind left hand (closer to face and slightly lower than the left hand) Finger tips of right hand approximately at the middle height of the left hand (keep hands away from face, both hands are at sanchin arm distance from your face) And you set into a deep cat stance.
  34. Feet and hands to neutral stance feet together hands by your side and bow.
